Lesson 11: Setup calculator

Enter your car's numbers and get a full starting sheet for every suspension and differential slider, with the reason for each value. Save it under the car's name to your garage, drive it, then fix what's left with the Symptom Doctor.

  • Two minutes per car
  • Works best with Fully Customizable Suspension and Fully Customizable LSD
  • Uses the same numbers as lessons 8 and 10

What the calculator does with your numbers

The calculator runs the course's own rules, the ones lesson 8 explains, and turns them into one value per slider. Each input changes something specific:

  • Drivetrain and class set most of the sheet: spring stiffness, dampers, bars, camber and the LSD shape.
  • Track type and wet apply lesson 8's offsets on top.
  • Weight and power give power-to-weight. That sets how much Acceleration Sensitivity the driven wheels need to put the power down.
  • Weight distribution only matters when your car is more nose-heavy or tail-heavy than is typical for its drivetrain. The drivetrain tweaks already assume a typical split, for example about 61% front on an FF car.
  • Your car's slider ranges (optional) keep every number inside what your car can actually reach. They also give ride height a real number in mm.

Optional: your car's slider ranges

Read the minimum and maximum off each slider in Car Settings. Leave any blank to skip it. Other sliders use the ranges most cars have: Anti-Roll Bar 1–10, Damping 20–40% / 30–50%, LSD 5–60.

Your garage

Save the sheet under the car's name, with a note on how it drove. Your saves are kept on the course site under a garage code, so there's nothing to sign up for. Enter the same code on your phone, tablet or laptop to see the same garage. Anyone who has the code can see and change that garage, so keep it to yourself.

After the calculator

  1. In GT7, use Duplicate Sheet, enter the numbers, then press △ if PP shows "!".
  2. Drive three clean laps. Name the phase and the end that lets go.
  3. Look it up in the Symptom Doctor, make one change, and drive again.
  4. When it feels right, save it here again with a note, so you know which version worked.
